What Is My IP Address?
Your IP address is: 18.188.161.29
Your hostname is: ec2-18-188-161-29.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com
This page detects and displays your public IP address. Depending on what you want to do, this may or may not be the IP address that you need. If your computer is not connected directly to the internet, but is instead behind a router, then the IP address above is not your computer's IP, it's your router's IP. In that case your computer has its own private IP address which is not visible nor accessible to the outside world; this private IP will be from one of the ranges 10.*.*.*, 192.168.*.*, or 172.*.*.*. These are private IP networks managed by routers and insulated from the global internet.
To determine your computer's private IP address, if you're running Windows, click Start, then Run, then type cmd and press Enter. That should give you a command prompt. Type the command ipconfig and press Enter -- this will show you your private IP address. If you're running a Unix-based operating system like Mac OS X or Linux, open a terminal and run the ifconfig command to see your private IP address.
